Saysutshun: Know Before You Go

Activities

There's a lot to do and see on Saysutshun! 

  • Hike or bike on one of the many trails through wooded areas or along picturesque shorelines. 

  • Rent a kayak or canoe and take in the views by water.

  • Explore tide pools, beaches, forests, and more!

  • Swim at various spots around the island, like Kanaka Bay, Midden Bay, Brownie Bay, and Mark Bay.

There's something for everyone, so give yourself time to explore!

Reserve a Site

There are 18 walk-in tenting sites, all just a short distance from the ferry. Five group campsites can accommodate up to 50 guests. Camping services include potable water, hot showers, flush toilets, and food lockers. Campers should be mindful of locking up all food when they're not using it, as the raccoon population on the island is keen to dig into unattended snacks!

Leave No Trace

Saysutshun is home to various wildlife species, including deer, raccoons, and several bird species. It's essential to respect their habitats and not disturb the wildlife when you visit.

Remember, always pack out all your garbage and belongings.

Getting There

Getting to Saysutshun is a stress-free experience—just a short ferry ride from the dock at Maffeo Sutton Park. 

No roads or cars on this island add to the experience: you can easily explore the nature, history and Coast Salish culture by foot or bike.
